What a wonderful time of year it is in the Sunshine State! I woke up this morning to the Sun shining and delighted in the cooler temperature outside, reminding all Floridians that fall is here and winter approaches. So many festive activities have been planned indoors and out as we celebrate the season and enjoy the crisp mornings and reduced humidity that has us throwing on light jackets and opening our windows!
Four Lakes kicked off October this year with a five-night trip to the Smokey Mountains! Several residents attended the trip and had the time of their life. Aside from the regular activities around the Clubhouse, such as Line Dancing, Karaoke, Bar Bingo, and Horse Races, some special events were planned! Last weekend, a day trip to Cocoa Village Craft Fair was scheduled and was followed by a Sadie Hawkins Dance in the Great Room that evening. Of course, it wouldn’t be Florida without a Pool Party! Friends and neighbors lounged poolside while a live band performed on the 9th. On the final Saturday of this month, the Sociable Club will put on a Halloween Party where judges come together to pick who has the best costume. A delicious Steak Dinner will be served before the party starts.
The fun isn’t limited to just Four Lakes, however. Just a few minutes into town, you’ll find plenty of free and live entertainment. Winter Haven hosted the IWWF world show ski tournament this past weekend on Lake Silver. Teams and individuals from around the globe traveled to this Water Ski Capital of the World to compete and witness the three-day event. Earlier in the week, Downtown Winter Haven closed off Central Avenue to host the International Street Festival, where individuals could sample and taste food from around the continent.
There’s so much entertainment around that you never feel bored (unless you want to, of course). Fall Festivals and pumpkin patches are held by many churches and downtown city areas to get you into the festive spirit. You could take my word for it or check it out yourself! We are grateFALL for Winter Haven & Four Lakes during this season!
“October gave a party; the leaves by hundreds came— The Chestnuts, Oaks, Maples, and leaves of every name. The Sunshine spread a carpet, and everything was grand, Miss Weather led the dancing, and Professor Wind the band.” –George Cooper.
